This 16-year-old girl from England was diagnosed with urinary tract infection after she started experiencing some severe headaches, nausea and stomach pain.
She was prescribed antibiotics, and her doctor gave her some advice on home treatment. Unfortunately, she didn’t notice any improvements.
When her symptoms worsened after 2 doses, she went to another examination, and then she was diagnosed with jaundice.
The tests and the analyses that she did, showed that she initially started this condition because of the consumption of Chinese green tea for weight loss, bought on the Internet for a few months in a row.
She didn’t understand the dosage instructions so she drank 3 cups a day.
They gave her proper therapy.
Her parents gave the tea so the doctors could examine it better. What they found out was shocking, the tea contained a component called “Camellia sinensis,” an evergreen herb used for tea which often causes hepatitis in females.
Since then, doctors have been using this case as a warning that overconsumption of green tea can trigger liver disease, which is why it should only be consumed moderately.
Additionally, many users are uninformed that this tea may also carry dangerous substances, including pesticides, which are assumed to trigger weight loss in users.
Hence, be careful of how much green tea you consume.
